Following their last peaceful performance in the Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior on February 21 2012, the Russian Orthodox Church has initiated the criminal case against the band along with a massive public hatred-campaign, that culminated with the arrested of Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova on March 4, the day of the highly-controversial presidential elections in Russia.
On 5 March, in the absence of any evidence and solely on suspicion of taking part in the performance, the court ruled that Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova will remain jailed until April 24 2012. Since their detention, the two women went on hunger-strike and are exercising their right for 'protection against self-incrimination' according to the article 51 of the Russian Constitution.

The next court hearing on the appeal of Maria and Nadezhda is set for March 14, 2012.
