Moscow, March 30, Interfax - The Delegation of the European Union to Russia has shown interest in the Pussy Riot case, the punk band's lawyer Nikolay Polozov told Interfax.
"As a lawyer for the arrested Pussy Riot band members I visited the office of the EU delegation to Russia, where I was invited for a conversation regarding the young womens' situation," Polozov said.
The delegation office "wanted to clarify the legal subtleties of the case," he said.
"Due to the high profile of the Pussy Riot case, many people have questions. I told them the reasons why this case is being investigated, and which prospects, in my view, it has," the lawyer said.
"This is not just an idle curiosity" on the part of the EU delegation, he said. "They told us that international human rights organizations are watching this case closely, which no doubt is good news, because the more people follow the developments, the less likely are the rights of the young women to be violated," Polozov said.
