In her latest letter from 5 April 2012, N.Tolokonnikova, graduate of Philosophy Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University, from prison, appeals to Russian state and Russian Orthodox Church against unfair monopolizing public debates on gender, while brutally excluding their opponents.
She states that the Russian church, in the face of its patriarch as well as its spokesperson V. Chaplin purposefully misinform Russian citizens and misinterpret the notions of gender and gender equality, thus contributing to regress and cultural stagnation of the Russian people.
She adds, that the former KGB tactics of banning its opponents by means of incarceration, currently adopted by the Russian Orthodox Church, in no way justify the so-called "ethical consensus" on gender issues, that is reached not by democratic representation of plurality, but by well-thought instruments of media control and manipulation of public opinion.
In her letter Nadezhda demands that the Pussy Riot, as main initiators of current gender debates, should be given equal voice in the discussions so far monopolized by the church.
